She studied painting and illustration at Parsons School of Design and the New School, graduating with a BFA (1975) followed by an MA (1978) in Fine Art from Hunter College. 

In 1975, she began her professional painting career.

2023—Current, her emphasis is on digital drawing/painting animations on iPad Pro and Adobe Premiere.

A native New Yorker, Janet currently lives and works in lower Manhattan.
